The road is a dangerous place for a good-looking vehicle. Debris in the atmosphere or rocks kicked up by other vehicles can do some serious damage to a flawless paint job. Sometimes the danger doesn’t come from the large semi-truck in front of you, but from your own vehicle, when rocks kicked up by your own wheels strike somewhere on your vehicle’s body. Many high-powered sports cars like the Ford Shelby GT350, the Porsche 911 Carrera S, or the Maserati Ghibli are particularly prone to this problem. These and other vehicles have a portion behind the rear wheel called the “Rear Wheel Impact Area” or “Rear Wheel Arch Impact Area,” and if you survey the panel you will often find a plethora of small rock chips. For situations like these, paint protection is useful but before that, getting a durable paint job could be a wise decision. Companies providing ‘Industrial Coating Service‘ can help you in getting a good paint job that might be robust and long-lasting. Additionally, you may want to get your car paint protected which can add to the durability.
How can you enjoy the power and acceleration of your vehicle without worrying about kicking up debris and damaging your paint?
One of our customers considered this very question, and decided that the best solution was to apply Paint Protection Film to the Rear Wheel Impact Area. The vehicle in this case was 2016 Chevrolet SS. With 415 horsepower from its 6.2 L V8 and a 0-60 in 4.7 seconds, the Chevy SS makes a great case for being called “the 4-door Corvette.” However, that power can sometimes backfire in the form of rock chips kicked up by spinning wheels. The Chevrolet SS we served had under 1000 miles, but the Rear Wheel Impact Area was already peppered with rock chips. That’s why it’s so important to have the Rear Wheel Impact Area protected with Paint Protection film.
We started this job, as always, with a thorough wash and decontamination. On white vehicles in particular, any contaminants that get trapped underneath the film become a terrible eyesore.
Since this vehicle already had damage from rock chips, we also had to perform paint correction work before applying the film.
Once the SS was free from contaminants and restored to its original pure white shine, we began applying XPEL Ultimate Paint Protection Film. On this particular vehicle, we also wrapped the fenders, the front bumper, and part of the hood.
Now the proud owner of this Chevrolet SS can enjoy the power of his engine without fearing self-inflicted wounds on the Rear Wheel Impact Area.
